Villeneuve-Loubet has become a cycling destination on the French Riviera through the years. Indeed the city has welcomed bike lovers since 2000 when the town created “La Villeneuvoise”: the first cycling path network, connecting the coast to the city centre.
This green lane dedicated to bikes became famous to residents and tourists alike. To this day the town offers more than 20 kms of cycling path, adding to the the already existing ones in the natural parks surrounding the town. Villeneuve-Loubet’s tourist office campaigned for the town to be named “Acceuil Vélo”; an award won in 2018 for its commitment to sustainability and quality of cycling services. The town also welcomes the “Euro Vélo 8”, a European bike path tour that runs through the south of France, attracting hundreds of cycling lovers. The tour begins from Cadiz in Spain to Athens in Greece. The French part of the circuit goes from the Pyrénées all the way to the Italian border, representing almost 800 kms, with the last 75 kms in the Alpes-Maritimes.
From Villeneuve's Marina Baie des Anges to the old town, following the shores of the river Loup, the tree-lined cycling path ensures tranquility and security to cyclists. The city also organises various activities throughout the summer, including the first cycling game on the French Riviera, with a 10 km treasure hunt along the path full of surprises and clues to pick up on. Moreover, bike lovers can enjoy all of the French Riviera coast with “La Littorale”, a very special cycle path connecting Nice’s port to Villeneuve-Loubet’s Port Marina Baie des Anges. This biking trip will take you on a 14 kms journey from beautiful Mediterranean views to breathtaking mountain panoramas, a perfect summer activity with friends and family!
