The historical Nice Jazz Festival comes back again this year with 31 bands and artists from all around the world. They will performe on the legendary stage at the Place Masséna and at the Théâtre de Verdure, from July 16 to July 20.
Again this year, the Nice Jazz Festival will showcase a rich and eclectic lineup. The Festival is always very anticipated by music lovers in Nice and tourists alike. This year's concerts will take place from July 16 to July 20. In 2018, more than 40,000 people made their way to the Place Masséna. For this new edition, organisers gathered different artists, such as Neneh Cherry (on July 16), Jacob Banks, and Nile Rogers & Chic. Many more will join them as well as “newbies” like Angèle (July 17), The Black Eyed Peas (July 18) and Hocus Pocus (July 19). Angèle was already the headliner of the Crossover Festival in 2018. Following the phenomenal success of her first album “Brol”, Angèle will be back in Nice on July 17.
Created in 1948, the Nice Jazz Festival seals its rank as the world’s oldest and most prestigious Jazz Festival. In 2013, the Festival renewed its lineup introducing the audience to C2C, Earth Wind and Fire and Ben Harper. Through the years, Nice Jazz Festival expanded and made its mark on Jazz history. Unfortunately in 2016, the Festival was cancelled following the terrorist attack at the Promenade des Anglais on the evening of the 14th of July.
But since then, Nice Jazz Festival came back with a palpable emotion, advocating peace and hope through music. Neneh Cherry will open this year’s edition of the Jazz Festival. In fact, the iconic artist of the 90’s is back with her fifth studio album. She created tracks with a strong social message, depicted by the album’s title: “Broken Politics”. Beside the historic Place Masséna, jazz concerts will be held at the Théâtre de Verdure with Grammy winner Fred Hersch’s piano trio and Christian Sands - who, according to experts, embodies the future of the American Jazz. The 2019 edition of Nice Jazz festival certainly has many surprises up its sleeve to the delight of the audience.
