Valentine’s Day on the Côte d’Azur

Nice (pictured) and Cannes both rank highly as Valentine's destinations among the French. The French love Valentine’s Day in the south of France! Both Cannes and Nice feature on the 2017 list of Top 10 destinations for Valentine’s Day according to research conducted by the hotel comparison website trivago.fr.

Nice comes in at number 7 and Cannes at number 10 on the list. Paris clinched the top spot, with London coming in second then Amsterdam. Other popular cities among the French people interviewed include Marne-la-Vallée (which is located between Paris and Disneyland), Venise, Barcelona, Rome and Lyon.

It’s not surprising that the French Riviera is popular among couples; with mild weather in February, a sparkling blue sky and sea, and enough rosé to keep anyone happy for the night, the region has everything needed for a romantic trip away. Nice has an abundance of art galleries, delicious restaurants and a stunning sea-walk along the Promenade des Anglais. The city is also a great starting point for couples who want a more secluded break – nearby villages like Villefranche, Èze and Tourettes-sur-Loup are all very accessible from Nice and offer a more authentically French experience.
