Reforestation and affordable lodging are priorities

The Mayor of Sainte-Maxime welcomes the New Year

Reforesting the areas devastated by the 2003 fires around Sainte Maxime remains a priority for 2005. This was at the heart of a New Year message from Mayor Bernard Rolland in which he described how more than a thousand olive trees had already been planted in the Saquèdes quarter. The video surveillance set up at the start of the summer was also working well. On other issues for the town he said 400 parking spaces would be created in the town centre with work starting at the end of the year. There are also three projects in hand to build more apartments to help relieve the shortage of affordable accommodation – 50 studios of 20sqm at the Bosquettes, 32 apartments at place Mermoz and 100 in the centre.
